Study Session #3 (at HUC) with Naamah
Kelman. We read several texts, tracing the words place/makom and midbar
(wilderness) through Genesis and Exodus, as a preparation for our journey
to the Negev. She pressed us to "Listen to the Sound Track." "In the wilderness
we have to let go." Torah has to be given in a neutral area that belongs
to God, and, therefore everyone. Otherwise the possession of the Torah
would lead to competition and bad feeling.
