The Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is ideally situated in the heart of East Jerusalem, just across the valley from the Jaffa gate, down from the King David hotel. It houses the Beit Midrash that was our host during our first study sessions.
Vewing east Jerusalem from the Jaffa gate. To the left is the King David hotel. In the center, just under the crane (the Israeli national bird) are the building of the campus of HUC-JIR in Jerusalem. Also housed at that campus is Beit Shmouel, providing hostel services to visiting young scholars.
