…. "By defining the mean performance of a sample of individuals from a particular grade level, one can determine whether an individual scores higher or lower than this average performance. By obtaining the mean performance of a sequence of grades from kindergarten to 12th grade, a scale can be constructed to show the relative performance of an individual. These scores are still ordinal in nature and should be used cautiously when interpreting test results.
