Why the Turtles?

In the early days of The Learning Incentive, Ian was teaching kids how to program using Logo (the best programming language for learning.) Ian kept a few turtle puppets and toys so kids could move them and figure out the Logo commands. Soon everyone decided that Ian loved turtles, and the collection has grown to hundreds.

In fact, Ian does love turtles - his favorites are the ones that live free, even though he won't part with the hundreds of statues and toys that crowd him out of his office.

So why not a turtle as our official mascot?

• Turtles are great role models!
• They have been wise enough to survive millions of years.
• They may start slow but they keep going.
• Every turtle is different.
