Ian and Aileen Shalom,
Where has the time gone? It was great
to hear from you. Of course, I immediately checked out the Internet site,
and was amazed at how wonderful it is and how much work you obviously put
into it. Kol HaKavod!! It does truly reflect a labor of love.
Life here at Yahel has been quite
hectic - after a short break we're once again hosting Israeli high school
students. Last week's group was 220 +, this week's group is smaller, "only"
150! After this week we finish the season and after dusting ourselves off,
will begin preparations for Pesach
which we will hopefully be at full
occupancy.
Drew and the boys are well. Elan goes
off this week to his yearly school field trip, three days and two nights
to the Jerusalem area. To say he's excited is an understatement. Nadav
is involved in a new project - a youth parliament. He's one of 120 11th
graders who will be involved in a "mock
Knesseth" program in May, through
the auspices of the Prime Ministers Office. They had their first of three
meetings and seminars on Thursday. He came home all enthused, and wants
to put forth a resolution, together with another student he met there,
for a Constitution for the State of Israel. (I had always thought we didn't'
have one on purpose, because of the religious staus quo, but evidently
according to Nadav our founding fathers had intended for all the basic
laws of the country to be bound together in a constitution and then never
did it). Should be interesting. In any case, "Seeds of Peace" activities
continue as well and Nadav hopes to be with a Israeli Seeds of Peace Delegation
traveling to Egypt at Pesach break for a week (we'll know this week if
he was chosen). Just so he'll be able to leave Egypt in time for Erev Pesach!
Just wanted to touch bases - I have
a load of work sitting waiting for me so I will have to keep this short.
I do promise to read the site word by word and send you my comments, as
well as a "Yahel Update" for you to publish.
Once again - Kol HaKavod!
Looking forward to keeping in touch,
Lori
